Designing pages that answer engines want to extract

Concrete formatting patterns that make content easier for synthesis engines to lift accurately.

Short paragraphs, standalone sentences, named entities early, dated claims, and clean tables all raise the odds of being quoted.

The formatting checklist

One claim per paragraph. Named entity in the first sentence. Numbers where you would otherwise use adjectives. Dates on time-sensitive statements. Tables for comparisons.

The heuristic: if a paragraph works as a pull-quote, it works as a citation.
